Nelson Mandela was a young lawyer who was jailed because he refused to accept the apartheid system in South Africa. He was in jail for 27 years and was consistently offered his freedom if he would make a public statement that he was accepting apartheid, but he refused. The South African government offered him money and privileges, but he refused. Mandela was finally released after 27 years, but that was not the end of this incredible comeback. First, he helped to orchestrate the end of apartheid in South Africa. A few years later, he became the first black president of South Africa! From prisoner to president! Oh, what a way to turn a setback into a setup for a comeback!
Sometimes you will have setbacks when people slam doors to your face and tell you “NO!” For an achiever, a “No” doesn’t break his spirit. For him, a “No” is nothing but a “Yes” waiting to happen. It is just a setup for a comeback! Remember the old saying, “winners never quit and quitters never win.”
Quote: “Never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never – in anything, great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense.” – Winston Spencer Churchill
